Unfortunately, family and work committments prevent me from attending this year's Otakon (ugh something always seems to come up). Ya gotta love any convention which has an explicit weapons policy.

Bottlecap tripod

I heard about this tripod and thought it was just about the best idea I'd seen this week. That is until I heard about this home-brew version this morning.

If only all executives could be so candid/brave/open about their experiences. One of the reasons I left my former employer was the sheer lack of consistent forthrightness displayed by a majority of the executive leadership.

Dan Bricklon on Sustainable Software

I'm often asked what the tagline of my company "Sustainable Software" means.

I've got all of the elevator conversations, and the power point, but until today I hadn't yet done a full essay on it that wasn't in "Business Plan 1.0 Executive Summary" form.

I'll leave that task to Dan Bricklin who remarkably, or unremarkably :), sums up my views much better than I myself have yet to do.

Stargate Atlantis

It will likely suck.

It looks like they're following the same tactics as Next Generation.

1. Fancier set(s)
2. More fashion / Less function for character clothes
3. Larger primary cast
4. New villians (Wraith) with more flash and less subtlety/substance than the Gould. Remind anyone of Kligon/Ferengi?
5. Must have babe who's primary contribution is...being attractive (ala Troi)

Then again it's kinda hard to get less flashy than a parasite :) —unless you count the eye flashes.

Then again it's also kinda hard to get more blatant with the 'forced babe character' than Vanessa Angel's appearances on the original series.

Only in Canada would a former VJ (Muchmusic) get a shot at Sci-Fi stardom.

Then again, only in the U.S. err...Denmark would a former VJ become an Internet entrepreneur.

Eh...its only t.v. back to more meaningful musings.
