D-Skin CD covers

Are sratched CDs/DVDs really THAT (warning: flash + sountrack) much of a problem?

I can see these perhaps being useful for covering children's (ahem...and adult's) Playstation/Xbox/DVD titles which, due to DRM issues, are 'tied' to the physical media which they ship on (for 99% of the population anyways).

This seems to be coming quite late-in-the-game too. The Gen X and Gen Yers I know tend to trade in raw bits--not swap/share physical media.

Still, will they work in the already highly-confined spaces of all of these media players?

What is the reasonable usage lifetime of a 'skin'?

When/if they make a 3" version for Gamecube titles and those ubiquitous SWAG-bag business card CDs?

As an aside, it appears that it's the case of a small LLC setup to brand/market/sell a single product.

Tim Bray's take on the top 20

A most-excellent (cue Keanu Reaves 'Ted' voice-over) Slashdot post referred by Tim Bray which refers to that most inane Top-20 software guys (uh..er..people) list.

Sparse posts

Yeah, yeah. It's been quite a while w/o any posts. Too much of
  • Xmas/Bday shopping (mother's bday is 12/14)
  • Coding/Testing on v1.0 of EgrantsPlus
  • Vacation planning (finding a clean, non-touristy beach)

Speaking of Xmas, if you know of any budding builders, this would very likely be a welcome site under the tree this year.
