Orbitz cluelessness

How could I have NOT heard about Orbitz totally moronic new Terms and Condtions agreement until now. Slashdot had the usual rants, but Mr. Meyer's take on things is pointed, subtle, humorous and just plain classic.

(*skinny white guy does the butter churn dance *) Go Eric, go Eric, go Eric....

Orbitz could learn a thing or three from Boing Boing's linking non-policy policy.

Battle Star Galactica

Wow. This is the BEST sci-fi I have seen on television since....? I can't recall. They manage to weave human drama, cutting edge camera/fx work and superb story-telling consistently week-after-week. If you like sci-fi (or even if you don't), do yourself a favor and record/tivo this. Be sure and check out the episode MP3 commentary podcasts.

Btw, I am not commercially associated with the SciFi channel in any way. Just a fan of this show (an extreme rarity for me).

Mr. Doctorow's upcoming novel

"But it is about Wi-Fi. It's a fantasy novel about Wi-Fi. It's a novel about a serial entrepreneur living in a bohemian neighborhood in Toronto who falls in with a gang of crypto punk, semi-street people who make their living dumpster diving and who've embarked on a program to defeat the Man by putting open Wi-Fi all across the city. That's the straight-ahead science fictiony bit of it--the fantasy part is that the point-of-view character is the son of a mountain and a washing machine whose brothers are variously a member of the living dead, a clairvoyant, a trio of nesting dolls, and an island. And the girl next door turns out to have wings."

uh...WOW. Sign me up. If it's even half as good as Down and Out and EST, it will be a real mind blower.

Nice interview on O'Reilly.

The word of the day is...

Boffinry

I first remember hearing this term on Junkyard Wars (the cool original British version with ex-Red Dwarfer Robert Llewellyn and ex-punk-rocker creator/cohost Cathy Rogers).
