Super Mario Brothers lvl #1 (Live)

Wow, such creativity. These college students put on a 'play' of Super Mario Brothers level 1. Wait for the 'pause'. LMAO. What a wonderful treat on an otherwise dreary Friday afternoon.

The word of the day is Wheee!.

Unfortunately, I'm testing some cross-browser event-marshalling code today and I'm forced to actually run IE on my desktop.

LOL. I'll never be able to look at the IE throbber the same way again.

Classic.

Keeping the university safe from Ninjas

Via Digg:

A person leaving a University sanctioned "Pirate's versus Ninjas" costume event was very forcibly detained by local ATF agents for his "suspicious behavior".

As far as I can tell from the article his "suspicious behavior" included wearing a bandanna and mask.

"Seeing someone with something across the face, from a federal standpoint, that’s not right,”—Vanessa McLemore, ATF

Hmmm...that would be all fine and dandy except that the University of Georgia campus is not federally secured property and performing a Terry Stop on a cooperative individual should not involve deadly-force threat escalation (i.e. the drawing and presentation of weapons) and the use of deliberately painful body-holds on top of hand-cuffs. It should be quite sufficient to identify themselves as federal agents and present their badges. The sounding of a generic siren, outside of a driving situation, is not, in of itself, a declaration of a specific restraint command such as "Halt" or "Freeze".

Perhaps Mr. Ransom was not initially cooperative, but if, in fact, the full story played out as the article suggested (both agents are in plain-clothes), both agents are definitely looking at disciplinary action. I have no issues with the act of the Terry-Stop stop itself--clearly a simple misunderstanding. Encountering fully-masked men on the street is not a part of everyday campus life. However, I have large concerns about the specific methods deployed and the comments of Ms. McLemore.

Rockstar Table Tennis?

Apparently, and this is no April fools, Rockstar Games who are in/famous for the Grand Theft Auto series of games have unleashed their latest opus...Table Tennis. I'll reserve judgment until I have a chance to actually play it (the detailed player graphics looks amazing), but this reminds me of the time that Pat Boone released a heavy metal album--only in the reverse.

more Homeland Insecurity

Via Digg:

A teacher was man-handled, hand-cuffed, and slammed against a car for requesting that 2 homeland security officers move their car out of the bus lane at an elementary school.

Even IF they had only pulled over to look at a map, this in no way, justifies their behavior.

Enough is enough. I sincerely hope our judicial system is capable of dealing with these sorts of incidents. If this story is accurate, I worry for our country if there is not due process applied here and a harsh punishment, up to and including dismissal, for both of these officers and suitable compensation issued to Mr. Pickett.
