Human Error

Somebody initialized at least one of Adobe's Apache webservers without being inside a chroot'd jail. Nice follow-up discussion on Reddit.

Hand-restored Olympia Cremina Espresso Machine

A great tear-down [flash video], restoration [article] and use [flash video] of a classic Swiss handle-pump espresso machine. This is basically a one-off with chrome, custom gaskets, and a 110V non-European power supply.

This is akin to a old fashioned pan or shovel-head Harley Davidson. A true classic.

Skill vs. Automation / Analog vs. Digital

A convincing essay on the value of the 50mm lens. Count me in. My next glass will be a 50 and my next camera will likely be a Leica MP.

Gym Jones (not compromising)

It's a shame that there isn't a Gym Jones nearby...or maybe there is (Heh). I love NOT having to compromise and they seem to share this philosophy.

As much as I enjoy Twitter, this mock-up is pure genius.

the BEAUTY of Sousveillance in action

Be very aware you are on camera.

If anyone knows a way to contact this youth directly, I know an excellent set of attorneys who can and will make life very difficult for this trooper.

There's a very big difference between a job and one's sworn duty. One must swear an oath to obtain arrest powers in this country. Clearly, this trooper is not following the letter nor the spirit of the law he is sworn to uphold. Watch this clip flood the 'net by tomorrow.

Another example of sousveillance closer to home in Burke, VA—with a much more civilized outcome.

Wow, what a game review

Via Digg:

If you can get past the purposeful rapid delivery and British accent, this guy seems to have nailed Bioshock. As a disclaimer, I haven't played the game, but his comments do seem to dovetail well with watercooler talk around 'da networks.

Stopping time

Oops, looks like someone pressed the button—poor AT&T.

Then again, I have no sympathy for them. Their motto might as well be "Your world delivered...to the NSA".
